Estimator
Elkins Construction is looking for an Estimator to join our growing team, based at our offices in South East London.
You’ll be working with our Preconstruction Manager, tendering for a range of projects between £200k – and £30m, across new build, refurbishment and fitout, with a large portion of the works being major construction.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working as a trainee in an estimating team within the construction industry. This is the ideal role for someone who is ambitious with a drive to succeed, looking for longevity and career progression.

Key responsibilities - - Read and understand the bill of quantities and drawings, take offs and site measurements.
- - Keep up to date with new industry legislation and regulations
- - Review tender documents to understand procurement
- - Create an abstract and line up supply chain for new projects.
- - Ensure estimations are completed and submitted to meet deadlines.
- - Arrange and attend key meetings with design, operation and commercial management teams to discuss strategies for procurement.
- - Seek out new supply chain partners to expand the company’s supply chain database.
- - Minute meetings for tender records.
Skills and experienceThe ideal candidate will have the following:
- - Minimum of two years’ experience in construction estimating
- - Full driving licence
- - Knowledge of the building process and construction methodologies.
- - Strong technical ability and understanding of the Built Environment
- - Good understanding of CDM Regulations and Health & Safety
- - Clear understanding of JCT D&B and Standard Form, ACA, TPC, and NEC Contracts.
- - Knowledge of preliminaries and build rates.
- - Understanding of first principles and composite build ups.
- - Competency with Microsoft 365 suite – including Word, Excel etc.
- - Ability to work with full autonomy

Working hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm; Friday 8am-3.30pm. A flexible approach to working is expected to meet business deadlines. Opportunity for some hybrid working, subject to business needs.
